The POST-UTME EXAMS 2016 Was Never Going To Be Valid – Minister’s Directives
After the meeting the honorable minster for education, Mr. Mallam Adamu Adamu. The Minister stated that JAMB – Jiont Admission And Matriculation Board is eligible by its statutory provisions of establishment to give admissions .
Hence, there is no need for another exams tagged post UTME after the traditional JAMB-UTME examinations.
However some Universities has gone ahead to hold their post-utme exams against the above directives.
In consequence, the Minister Of education, yesterday maintained that the ban on post-utme exams remains valid. And any UTME exams conducted by any tertiary institution other than JAMB remains null and void.
In accordance, in a press release by the Minister in Abuja, He confirmed that the ban is still in effect and by no means should any institution breach or violate the FG’S directive.
He advised that all the institution that have advertised their Post-UTME exams screening exercise to stop immediately.
He warned that any tertiary institution that would violate this directives would face the full wrath of the law. And those who had conducted their screening exercise, it remains null and void. The institutions involved should immediately refund the money collected from candidates.
In a bid to clear all possible doubts, the Honorable Minister, said that tertiary institution includes every school above Secondary school level. He argued that the scrapping of Post-UTME Exams 2016 is to lighten the stress on parents who spend a lot to carry out the so called POST-UTME Exams.
Federal Government has resolved, that JAMB-UTME Examination is credible enough to give admissions.
Meanwhile, he debunked the notion that Post-UTME Exams help to admit only the eligible candidates. That every year Students are expelled for low performance in their various institutions even after the POST-UTME exercise.
Therefore, Universities are free to reject any candidate who did not reach the requirements to the degree programme applied for.
In accordance, Mr. Adamu M. Adamu, gave directives to the National University Commission, NUC and its parasatals to dispatch this information to every concerned institutions and bodies.
